Chapter: Go Unless you Get a No
We have been having some great discussions about the will of God these last few days.
Daniel O’Neles shared a great angle with me that he had heard which was instead of asking “What is God’s will for my life?” to rather ask... “God, what is your Will? And how can I give my life to it!?”
It’s been a really liberating for me to take my eyes off the horizon waiting for this divine revelation of God’s Will for MY life. As I look around I see the endless opportunities right in front of me to love God and to love others. Should God choose to speak or direct me more specifically than this, may He find me engaging with what He has already ask of me, not simply waiting for something better.
We have latched onto this idea of laying out a fleece before the Lord as seen by Gideon. The truth is Gideon had already heard from God before making Him jump through hoops with the fleece. We fleece to death, things that God has already spoken and required of us. It’s time to obey the simple commands of God before feeling entitled to more!
EXERPT: “Is it possible that you have been fleecing your divine moments rather than seizing them? That you’ve said to God, “I’m not doing anything, risking anything or going anywhere until you give me a sign”? have you chosen to live in safety, comfort and convenience, justifying your lifestyle because God hasn’t called you to a different life? Is your justification for living a low-risk life the absence of a sign to live differently?” Chasing Daylight pg. 161
God, May we be men found living for the things that you care about!
Give us a taste of how beautiful your love is so we may overflow into a world that is desperate for the God in us! Amen
