Marriage Week 2.

Marriage: Week 2

Here is a 1000 foot view of marriage I feel is important for us to understand.

If I wanted to kill everyone in a hotel, would it be better to bust through each door on every floor trying to shoot one person at a time or would it be more wise to put poison gas in the ventilation system?
The enemy is not stupid, he works hard to poison the systems of the world in which we live and he does it over a span of generations knowing that by influencing those systems in which we all live, his destruction will be more lasting and effective.

The enemy know the best way to damage all of humanity, is to destroy the true sanctity of marriage. He has been working hard in the media and governments of the world for a long time now for this purpose.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.

“Marriage is the only public profession of unconditional love left in the world.” He’s going after it!
If you want to live and die for something bigger than yourself... in our day and age it will be fighting for your marriage. Your marriage will be a lighthouse for the lost generations who have settled for the conditional love TV and movies promised would make them so happy yet left them alone and abused.

The battle rages all around us for the destruction of marriage. The next generation hangs in the balance. Lets lock those escape hatches and prepare to fight!

PRAYER: God there is so much at stake, so much more than just our own marriage. May our marriages mirror Christ's relationship with his church. May you give us the discerning spirit to navigate through the schemes of the enemy. We do not want to settle for less than you have purposed.

CHALLENGE: Continue to work on throwing away the key to the escape hatch if you find yourself still holding the key.
For the rest of us...
The enemy likes us to have conditional love knowing its only a matter of time till our conditions are not met and we are out of there... yet God purposed marriage to be unconditional love.
Evaluate your marriage looking for areas where you have placed conditions on your love for your spouse. Bring those before the Lord. Email some observations, i will leave your names off yet share them with the group to help expose some of the things we may not know about in our own lives. Iron sharpens Iron.
