Anyone else feeling a little weathered from this last year!? 2010 sounds quiet tiring to me to be honest. There may be the chipper few of you out there who feel opposite and then others of you who know exactly how I feel. I would sure love God to wave His magic wand and make a some things a little easier to brighten the picture of a comfortable new year but I sense there is more character work to be done. “God refuses to be our personal genie because He knows that instant change will not give us what we need. Too many of us miss God’s best because we are impatient. We give up too early, too easily. The result is more pain and regression. The fact that God weighs character over comfort does not mean His delay is denial. It means His timing for our deliverance perfectly coincides with our change of character. That is, we will be ready for His blessing when our character can accommodate blessing without getting spiritually sidetracked.” Every Man, God’s Man pg. 44 I have come to realize few things about God: He is not in a rush. My 11th hour is like mid day for him. oh man is His timing something else! He cares more about what we are made of than what we can make. He does not give us gifts before we know how to handle them. I have also come to realize a few things about us: We avoid pain at all costs rather than to go through it and be refined. We get impatient and snatch gifts prematurely from God’s hand way before we have the ability to steward that gift. Rather than give up too early or be too impatient, may we settle back into God’s peace this next year regardless of the battles surrounding our lives. May we learn and grow so we can be moved along into a fresh set of challenges and opportunities for character development. Amen Rob
