Chasing Daylight 10

Today’s excerpt resonates with conversation that came up on a video chat I had in Nashville with a group of guys who gathered at Jeff Rays house yesterday morning in San Clemente to seek the Lord.  I feel this excerpt pin points where many of us are right now. We are frustrated with the norm, yet we struggle to know how to get out of this place, to tap into the adventures of God we crave so desperately.

EXCERPT:
“I must confess I am no longer a sideliner. I do wake up pretty much every morning asking the question, “How can I change the world?” For me it began with a simple change of perspective. I want my life to be defined by what I give. So many moments are lost when we’re looking only for what we can get. You can enter into divine moments only when you are willing to serve. There is a mystery in all of this. I suppose no-one put it better than Jesus: when you try to keep you life, you lose it. But when you lose your life for HIs sake, you actually find it.
This change of focus somehow helped me overcome my fears, my doubts, and my insecurities. Life wasn’t about me anymore, so all of that became irrelevant. Even if everyone around you chooses to sleep, you must resist the temptation to join the slumber. Wake Up! Get out of bed. God wants to change the worlds through your life if you’ll just do something. While everyone else slept, Jonathan woke up. He decided he needed to make a difference in his world. Maybe there is a touch of insanity to think that you or I could really make a a difference, knowing who we are, that we could somehow change the course of human history. If it’s normal to wake up in the morning and just try to make it through the day, then I vote for abnormality. I choose insanity...” - Daylight pg. 59

I love this perspective about what you GIVE, not what you DO...
For me it began with a simple change of perspective. I want my life to be defined by what I give.”

CHALLENGE: Wake up tomorrow morning asking the dangerous question, “What can I GIVE today to make a difference in the world?”

PRAYER:
God we ask you to wake us from our sleep, we want to wake up and catch a glimpse of the world as You see it. Holy Spirit cut through the apathetic culture we live in and allow us to be the salt and light people are crying out for. We will not live any longer to simply make it through the day. God lead us on. Amen.

Blessings, Rob
