CHASING DAYLIGHT 8

Sideliners...

Go watch a big game at someone’s house with a bunch of guys. 9 out of 10 will sound like they know how to play better than the professional players they are watching on TV even though they have never played a game in their life.

I catch myself so often having a strong opinion about a situation and yet choosing to do nothing about it. That makes me... a sideliner.
For example, I would say 9 out of 10 Christians who believe abortion is wrong, have never thought of adopting a child themselves. We often have strong convictions yet they are not followed action that will lead to change. It’s easy to tell people how killing babies is wrong, it’s easy to vote against it but it’s another thing to change and re-arrange our lives to adopt children from mothers that cannot raise them.
Christianity is full of sideliners. People watching the game on Sunday mornings yet life as usual through the week.

You could argue that there are so many causes and how could you possibly do something about everything, you are right that excuse works sometimes but I seem to use it more than I should.

How can we become men of conviction who follow up with action rather than just opinion.

READING: “When we delight in God we become anything but apathetic. In fact we become intensely passionate. These desires of our hearts are born out of the heart of God. The more you love God, the more deeply you care about life. The more deeply you care about people, the more deeply you are committed to making a difference in people’s lives.
There is a direct relationship between passion and initiative. The more passionate you are, the more pro-active you will tend to be (even if you boldly do the wrong thing).” Chasing Daylight pg.49-50

CHALLENGE: What are the areas in your life where you feel convicted to move from the bench to the field and have been putting it off. Maybe it’s time to stop talking and start playing. Just for it!

PRAYER: GOD!!! We need to be at your feet, we need to be on fire for you so that we can know your voice when your Spirit prompts us to do something in the moments we are presented with each and every day. God the world needs people that are alive, that are full of substance and salt, not just men who have opinions. God we need you!
